He Felt the Silence too

“About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ – which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” – Matthew 27:46

Jesus, the Son of God Himself, broken, bruised and bleeding. Hung on the Calvary cross for the sins of this world. In his final hours, he cried out not in fear of dying, but from a place of deep confusion. He cried out “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

This was a cry of abandonment. Because of His love, he stood in place for us. He filed the void left by sin, allowing us to enter God’s presence. This wasn’t only a cry of abdonment, but a cry of identification. Jesus became the embodiment of sin for us. Jesus wasn’t afraid of death, what grieved him the most was feeling the separation from the One He had always been with.

God is Holy and cannot look to sin. Jesus became sin. He bore the weight of sin for us. God turned his face away not from his Son, but from the sin Jesus had to carry for our sake. He had to die to fulfil God’s will. In that moment, Jesus felt silence… suffering, pain and yet he endured it all. He endured the separation, so we would not have to. He was forsaken, so we could be accepted. But because of the cross, nothing can ever separate us from the love of God.

There has been days where you may have felt low in life. Days where you would cry to God and scream “Why have you forsaken me?” But I’m here to let you know that the God that has started a good race in you will see you to your end. Trust in the Lord will all of your heart. Confuse the devil, rejoice and do not let your circumstances determine how you look. For there is so much life and God wants to do something with you.

Psalm 120:1 “I call unto the Lord when I’m in distress and he answers me.” – As you call and pour out your heart to Him, a transaction occurs, a change happen and transformation shifts. We come to God with our implications and He leaves us feeling renewed through His wonderful promises and truth.

We may feel as though, we’re forgotten at times, but God reminds us we are not.

Therefore, children of the Lord, arise and take position. When the devil tries to get in between you and God, you tell him to “Get thee behind you, for there is I Am fighting for you.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to you today and I lift your child to you right now. Oh Lord, you see the storm that they go through. Rabbi, you know their hearts and you are close to the brokenhearted. You mend and you restore those that are lost. I ask that you grant peace upon their lives, bring back laughter and light upon their life. Cover them with your love and carry them through this season.

Just the same way you healed the woman who bled for twelve years. I believe you will do the same for those who feel lost in their faith. And the same words, you said to her, may your words settle in their spirits: “Your faith has made you whole”. Lord let that same faith fill them, a faith that renews, recharges and heals.

Repair what was broken, breathe life into the empty place and awaken what has been lost within.

In Jesus name, Amen!
